Vintage vibes: the comeback of film photography
We've all seen how the 90's fashion trends are making their way back into fashion these days, so it really is no surprise that the film aesthetic is making a comeback as well. As a documentary style photographer - I have to say, I am a fan. There is just something so nostalgic about loading the film into my Canon AE-1, holding the viewfinder up to my eye, and hearing the mechanical "click" as I capture a moment. It takes me back to my childhood where you could find a disposable camera at every birthday party, swim meet, end of school year party, and then some. There's also something to be said for having to truly learn how to operate each component of my camera, from the aperture, to the shutter, and having to really focus on what I am trying to capture, rather than rapid firing the shutter on my Canon R6.
I am very proud to share that I am now offering this highly sought after addition in my photography packages! After spending some time learning, I have quickly become obsessed with this vintage craft. It's so thrilling to drop off a roll of film, having no idea what the photos will turn out like, and then the excitement of seeing them developed. For my clients, it's like a bonus sneak peek while I am still working on their final gallery (and a plus for me, because I don't have to edit them)!
So - if you are a nostalgic person like myself, please check out my film add ons or my packages offering film! You will receive roughly 30 images delivered in a high resolution scan (courtesy of Austin Film & Imaging), usually within a week of your shoot or event.
If you're not sold on it yet - don't worry, you have until the day before your shoot to add it!
