Austin's 3 Best Engagement Photo Locations
Austin, Texas is a city brimming with vibrant culture, scenic beauty, and historical charm. It’s no wonder couples flock here to capture one of life’s most significant milestones: their engagement (and sometimes their wedding too). Whether you’re an Austin local or visiting this eclectic city, choosing the perfect backdrop for your engagement photos is key to creating memories that will last a lifetime, which is my speciality. These 3 places in particular though, truly have my heart!
1) Zilker Park
This one may come as an obvious choice and may even seem overrated and overused, but in my opinion, it is often one of the BEST places to go, especially if you're in a pinch! Zilker offers wide open fields, skyline views, and even views of Lady Bird Lake. It really has so many places to choose from within the park, no matter what kind of vibe you are going for! Whether you want bluebonnets in the spring or golden hour in the fall, Zilker park is an excellent go-to and is where I have taken some of my most favorite engagement sessions.
Zilker Botanical Garden
While it is not free to take your engagement photos here, it is a very small price to pay for some gorgeous backdrops. Zilker Botantical Garden offers a variety of backdrops, from gorgeous seasonal flowers, skyline views of the city, and even a waterfall. This is the perfect location for those couples who have a love for lush landscapes or beautiful flowers. Because it is a paid location, you will usually find more privacy here than you would at a more open and free location like Zilker Park.
Texas State Capitol
I saved the best for last. This is my all time favorite photo destination in Austin. There are tons of places within this building that exude timeless beauty and elegance. The best part - it's totally free and it's open 7 days a week! This building is stunning both inside and out, and you can spend hours getting lost inside of it, and still never see it all. Whether it's on the front steps, the courtyard outside, or in the most iconic spot, the breathtaking Rotunda, you will inevitably get timeless and stunning photos at this historic building.
